For use in print and new media, 3d images can prove to be a cost effective alternative to image banks when an image is required. Different rendering options are available, from a cell shaded cartoon style to a photo-realistic raytraced finish as shown below. The models can also be used in animations for CD presentations, DVD and television.

Unlike a photographic image, alterations can be made long after the original picture was created, as scenes are saved in virtual studios, objects, lights and cameras can all be moved and the scene re-rendered to create a new image, without incurring additional set up costs.
